Wood For Carving

Our halfbones, pipes and lollies are carved from the wood of the “swiss stone pine” (Pinus cembra). Swiss stone pines can be found in the European Central Alps, the High Tatras and the Carpathians at altitudes of 1.300 meters and above. Stone pine wood is the most popular wood for carving alongside lime wood. This wood is characterized by its short-fibred, homogeneous consistency and its wonderful smell. It is a soft wood and is therefore easy to work with.
